Just Us Girls #130

Woohoo!  It's wild card week!  My pal, Elise, is challenging us to give our designs some ZIP this week...yep, you guessed it, use a zipper to embellish your creation!  Check out the details for Just Us Girls challenge #130 and please do use the graphic below in your post.

(*aww shucks* some of that artwork above is mine!thanks E!) and you can find link ups from previous posts  HERE and HERE .  For Elise's challenge, I went all girly with a pink and brown palette and a super frilly pink zipper flower embellishment.

The gorgeous frame, die and mannequin stamps are Wplus9 and the pretty sentiment and swirl are from Waltzingmouse.  I love the way these vintage inspired designs married so easily on this card.  The floral frame stamp was echoed in the swirls on the My Mind's Eye designer paper!  Love that!  The mannequin was stamped on the same designer paper, fussy cut and popped on foam tape for dimension.  A corsage pin makes a pretty pearl "head" and Want2Scrap baby bling give this girl a sparkly necklace to wear! Another seamstress pin holds the sentiment tag by being inserted into one of the pieces of foam behind the mannequin piece.

But wait!  We are talking zippers here!  How about a close up?  I inserted a cluster of floral pick stamens into the center of my zipper flower and added pearl trims and glittered floral silk leaves to the flower.  The whole piece rests on a short length of rose ribbon trim from Want2Scrap (love that stuff!)

One more way to use zippers is to layer them up as you would a punched edge or ribbon trim....I really like the contrast of silver teeth on zipper twill.  Apply them with a strong fabric glue like Fabri-Tac.

Be sure and check out the amazing inspiration from the JUGs girls

Just Us Girls #129

Hey friends!  It's Just Us Girls challenge time.  This week is 3D/template week and I am challenging everyone to make a boxed card set that includes a "choose your own" sentiment tag option.  (RANDOM: anyone reading this post remember the "choose your own adventure" book series...I'm talking the 80's here!).  Anywhoo...the challenge...

Here is my card set unloaded from it's packaging.  It includes six stamped gingham note cards with one assembled to show the design I had in mind.  I included five sentiment tags for the five remaining cards...two happy birthdays and three tags that are stamped on both sides (Merci on one side and Oh my lordy bees, I'm so happy for you on the other side).  In addition to the tags, there is foam adhesive and coordinating buttons tied with twine.

I boxed my set in an up-cycled Papertrey Ink stamp packaging box.

Here is my card set all ready to go!

Hi JUGs fans!  First things first, the winner of my blog candy from last week.... is #35!
The adorable and talented Sue Lelli!
Sue, drop me an email with your mailing address and I will get your goodies out to you ASAP!

And now for the challenge...this week, design a project that is text rich.   Your multiple text stamps for a background or as a focal point like I did.

All my sentiments are from a set by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  LOVE this western set and it was perfect for a CAS card for my guy's birthday last month.  Stamps are a great choice for this technique or if your are digitally inclined, feel free to produce a digi masterpiece.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Want2Scrap post and the Waltzingmouse Tea Party birthday

Hi friends!  Today I have a project made with the Freebie Tea Bag Template from Waltzingmouse Stamps and plenty o' the BLING from Want2ScrapTM!  Waltzingmouse is having a first birthday tea party!  Be sure to check it out for your chance to win an AMAZING prize package!  For all the details on products from Want2ScrapTM, please visit {my post} over on the Want2ScrapTM blog.

I used vellum embossed with a swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing envelope to make the tea bag template base.  I wanted to have that sheer transparency that a real tea bag has and this combination worked great.  Here is where you can download Claire's free template for yourself.  Tea Bag Template  I used stamps from Waltzingmouse to make the tea bag tag, the banner ribbons and the fold over closure label: Bitty Banners and Very Vintage Labels No4.  I love that the journaling spot from Very Vintage Tags No 4 fit perfectly on the template tea bag tag!  See....

A match made in heaven :)  I hope you have enjoyed this project as much as I did making it!  Have a great day!

    Tissue Paper rosette....{Happy Birthday}

Hey blog friends!  Today I am sharing a card inspired by the Tissue Paper magic Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, the sketch challenge over at Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch blog and the colors from the Playdate Cafe.

    the sketch...

    the colors...

    the card....

My clean and simple card (!!!!!!whaaaa?  clean and simple hardly ever happens here).  Yup, had to let the pretty crepe paper rosette shine all on it's own so clean and simple it is.  I used the single-ended banner stamp from Waltzingmouse to make the double ended banner and also pieced together my sentiment and swirl from three different stamps from the Back in the Saddle set, also from Waltzingmouse stamps.  I love how WMS stamps can intermingle with each other....all it takes is some masking and careful inking of only the parts of the stamp you need.

I happened to have the perfect shade of Playdate Cafe Lime green crepe paper in my stash!  I assembled the rosette by covering a punched scalloped circle with adhesive and randomly ruffling the crepe paper as I went around the edge of the punched circle.  After the rosette was complete, I die cut it with the scalloped circle die from Spellbinders.  I love how those neatly scalloped edges turned out!  Another favorite technique in action here....I adhered Want2Scrap baby bling in red to the intersections created by the embossing on the lower half of the card.  Such a pretty touch.

    Thanks for coming by today!

    Happy Birthday Elise!

Once in a while a friend comes along who already KNOWS how to sing your song...  Today, the Just Us Girls DT, along with some special blog-o-sphere friends, are pausing to celebrate the birthday of a very special gal..... a purveyor of crafty blog-land YEE-HAWS and ranch life anecdotes....the JUG-heads very own singing cowgirl, Elise of Mamacow Creations!  SURPRISE!  Happy birthday, dear girl!  Today's post is all about lil 'ol you!

I met Elise going on more than 8 years ago in our local scrapbook store.  We knew each other only in passing until one fateful weekend we sat across from each other for a weekend's retreat.  There the friendship connections sparked and fired as we discovered so many life similarities, it was uncanny.  From those first few conversations, we found ourselves each privately thinking..."hey!  I like this gal!".  It seems that now, years later down the road of friendship, through life's ups and downs, the careful weaving of our families together and the many conversations by phone and in person, I couldn't possibly imagine my life without my special friend.

If you know Elise IRL or virtually through her vivacious blogging you know that she is a bringer of optimism, creativity and care........and of course, the ever present YEE HAW!  I know all of our days are brightened with the enthusiasm she shares with us.  We hope that you will join us in wishing Elise a very happy birthday and if you'd like to link up a birthday card in her honor, we have a linky just for that purpose this week.  Check out the post at Just Us Girls for a list of all the friends in Elise's birthday hop!

Today's card for Elise was inspired by several challenges....

    Waltzingmouse sketch 42
I used some fabulous Waltzingmouse stamps to capture the cowgirl spirit ...Back in the Saddle had a great horse and rider image that I was able to add a flying ponytail to!

    Color inspiration from CR84FN

and the twine challenge from Wee Memories for my wee bit of twine tied to the black button embellie.

I hope you can join us for a rootin tootin time over at Just Us Girls!  Happy Birthday Elise!  One last card before I go....my youngest was inspired to join in the festivities too.....

    loving the custom artwork!!!

Have a day full of YEE-HAW wontcha?

Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz....it's my first time and I feel {Lucky}!

Sometimes you gotta ask yourself, "do YOU feel lucky, well, do ya?"  Oh wait, no, not Dirty Harry lucky but Luck 'o the Irish LUCKY!  A green shamrock, rainbow in the sky kinda lucky...the brand of luck that finds you on St Patrick's Day!!  Happy St Patty's Day everyone!  And I'll tell you, I DO feel lucky because today is the first time I've been able to play in the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Hop!  Yahoooo!
So while the corned beef is simmering in the crock pot today, I am going to treat myself to a festival o'green eye candy sure to be had along the WMS hop.  I decided to do a WMS double header by also using the Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge #38:

I inked up stamps from the smoking hot brand new Very Vintage Labels 18 and  Bitty Banners.  Side note, Bitty Banners has me wanting to whip up wee little banners to hang about....hmmmm, that's a thought!

Another reason I'm lucky?  I found the PERFECT little shamrock button in my green button bag.  Just one, but that was all I needed for this card.  I blinged it up with some Want2Scrap bling because I do love me some sparkles!  If I can't find the pot of gold today at the end of a rainbow, at least I've got BLING!

And the biggest reasons I'm lucky?  Well, I have amazing family and friends (hi friend, yes I'm talking to you!) and I am wife to my treasured hubs and I am mom to two of the best girls I know....oh, and I get to papercraft!!  Too many blessings to count so I'll just summarize with, "yes, I am LUCKY"!

Thanks so much for coming by and sharing your generous rainbow colored spirit with me today.  See you on the hop and Happy St Patrick's Day!
