My Time to Create Color Challenge #3

Hi everyone! Back again with a color challenge from Lauren Meader and the My Time to Create design team! This week's color grouping is especially fun for me....that inspo picture is a closeup of my childhood craft/tea/anything table that is set up and my parents' house for my girls now! The way they tell it, snacks and art area always better at this special table. I happen to KNOW they are CORRECT :) What a gem from the 1970's huh?

the challenge:

Create something using this color grouping and post it on the Mr Linky at Lauren's blog. I love all of fun images on this piece as well to inspire us so let your creativity go wild.

my project:

I instantly was drawn to the woodsy theme of many of the images on this inspo picture. Anyone out there remember Woodsy the Owl? Give a hoot, don't pollute guy? Well, here's a great little modern Woodsy from Recollections at Michaels paired with some Target $1 aisle cork letters and fun embossing.

Isn't he just a make you smile kind of owl?

Another thing that has been going on this week with the My Time team is the promotion of a wonderful fundraiser for the Make A Wish foundation of Illinois. Melissa of Pink Cat Studios designed a wonderful digital stamp set in honor of Ethan Weiman. I'd love it if you'd check out the details on her blog and at the time of writing this post, the giving community we blog and craft in has raised over $1400 from the sales of this digi stamp set! Amazing and so wonderful!!

In honor if this set, I made one more card dedicated to Ethan and his journey. Using the challenge colors and a favorite song title....my heroes have always been cowboys...one more salute to a cowboy hero of the little boy kind. Here's to you, Cowboy Ethan!

You definitely don't want to miss what the My Time to Create Team has put together for you this week. Check them out :)

I loooove your little table!! Both of your cards ROCK!! I just adore all the fabulous textures you used. Your owl and your Ethan really shine atop their wonderfully bumpy bases.....I just wanna reach through my screen and touch them!! Love the colors from your inspiration table (in your childhood, your girls' lives, and now ours too!) and looks like a mighty fun challenge. THANKS for the INSPIRATION You provide Us!!! :>

Ok Dane -- in a true to myself style I look at pics first and I was thinking I knew that pattern. Ahh, the scene of Izz-Dogs crime. Love that your kiddie table is this week inspo. Super cute cards. I love the My Heros verse for this card. Really awesome.

Both of these cards are adorable! I love the embossing on the woodgrain for the owl card and the stitching on the star for the "Ethan" card (but then, I {heart} stitching on just about anything) :)
