Because {NICE} Matters with the My Time to Create Color Challenge #4

It's no mystery, I like NICE...I think most people do ;) Today's card is inspired by Lauren Meader's My Time to Create color challenge and is full of happy colors to thank someone nice in my life. I'll tell you more about her in a minute but, hold onto your hats, get out some supplies and let's get creative today!
the challenge: my project:
So there is no requirement to use flowers in your color inspired creation this week but I just couldn't help myself, I HAD to. That purse was calling the paper flower gardener in me! LOVE paper flowers, they don't make me sneeze ;) Plus, as I warned earlier this week, I have rediscovered my sewing machine so I had to pull out some fabrics....hmmmm I guess this is not a paper flower after all....it's fabric and leather! Very saucy, no? The orange fabric is from the Amy Butler line (thanks sweet Traci!) The light tan is a leather remnant and if you hop back up to the first photo on this post you will see it is imprinted with a shiny iridescent snakeskin like pattern. Whew! Pretty wild but pretty and sparkly here. The brown fabric is a vintage piece from a stash of wonderful cottons I was gifted by my aunt. She was handling a LARGE collection of sewing supplies from her dear mother in law's collection, who could literally make anything on her sewing machine. I was so honored to receive so many wonderful pieces. Now I CAN'T make much on my sewing machine that is wearable BUT if it can be mixed with paper, I'm in!
All of the flower layers were cut with a sizzix die (circles and flowers) and then stitched on. I couldn't stop there, more stitching on the card front just because I can! Have you ever stepped on a sewing machine pedal to make her go?? VRROOOOOM ! It's awesome! If the Andretti family ever raced in an Indy SEWING 500 I'd be some competition! ha ha (don't tell my mom, the seamstress in her would be cringing right now ;))
So back to the "nice matters" sentiment....I LOVE this sentiment from Stampin UP! I know I will be using this for many years to come. I like it so much I stamped it three times on this one card. The person who this card was made for is definitely deserving of 3 "nices"....I mean do you see the container of buttons my card is sitting in?? I was telling my very exciting story of the vintage buttons shown {here} to my mom and her friend, Kathy. My mom, who is an avid seamstress as I mentioned above, had too much fun checking out the button haul I had that day and sweet Kathy took note of our obvious delight. She had an opportunity to snag a bag of vintage buttons a few days ago and thought to herself "I know who will like these". Yep, she thought of my mom and I! Is that sweet or what???? It's no surprise she and my mom have been friends since elementary school. So thank you, Kathy, for knowing how the little things matter :)

Whew! I am chatty today! Thanks for hanging in there with me, I had some dear stories to share and I hope you didn't mind.

Back to the challenge.....see all that delicious eye candy below?? The My Time to Create Challenge Team has been in a flurry of activity. No shortage of inspiration here! Check them out, won't you?
Hey! Thanks for stopping by today and sharing your time with me.....that was NICE! :) Can't wait to see what you make for this challenge. Add it to the Mr Linky on Lauren's blog so we can all see, OK? See you again soon!

I BEG your pardon... That's one fantastic FLOWER paper garden! Your typing/story telling is breathless and hilarious and wonderfully compelling and inspirational! I love it: I CAN HEAR YOU! Just when I think you can't take DARLING any deeper, you FIND A WAY! This card is absolutely, over the top of FABULOUS! YOU are so worthy of the seamstress lineage, you just don't KNOW it: but your mama will be proud! You just floor me, SLD! Bravo!

Okay Dana...I'm glad you like my faux stitching...really I am. BUT, could you PLEASE come to Virginia and teach me to use a sewing machine?! That's the one craft I'm determined to learn this year! Like you, I don't need to create anything "wear-able", just need to use it in my papercrafting :O)

Your card with all the REAL stitching is FABULOUS! I love the vintage look of it and the random stitching on the card front. You even stitched your ribbon!!! How awesome :O) Oh, and the Circle die from Sizzix along with the flower? I would never have thought of that...so I'll just steal the idea from you :O) LOVE my Sizzix!

Great card for sweet Kathy who brought you the vintage buttons! How precious :] I laughed out loud through your entire post...my husband just looked at me funny! Have a great weekend girlie.
