CPS108 and Card Casserole
Happy Friday everyone! I love Fridays, especially when they are the Friday starting spring break for my 2nd grader. She has 3 weeks to catch up on fun at home with her mom and little sister. This is when I LOVE the year round school schedule!
So today's card is what I call Card Casserole! My mom, thankfully, was not a mystery meat leftover veggie casserole maker when we were little. I don't know how we escaped that one but we did. Maybe we just had such good appetites there weren't any leftovers :) Anywhoo, back to the card...my craft tabletop is a disaster area! I am so ashamed I can't even show you BUT at least it's a mess because I've been busy making stuff! Love that. In the process of trying to clean up, I always find usable bits that are too fun to throw out, too little to put away so I end up with Card Casserole! Hey! That's pretty catchy! Maybe one day I'll start a challenge here called Card Casserole ;)
My crafty concoction is made with bits left over from the PTI blog hop, a PTI GSS submission 2 months ago and some die cutting and inking I did at retreat a month and a half ago! I grabbed a handful of stuff and this week's CPS sketch and came up this...

Damask Notecard...keeping it simple
Good morning! I have a little something to share that threw me for the biggest loop the day I made it. I stared at this card for more than it's fair share of minutes until I finally realized something...it just didn't NEED anything else! LOL!
Have you ever run across an image so lovely it can stand on it's own? That's what happened here. Now I for one often live in the "more is better" camp so this took me a minute to understand what was happening! Trust me people, I tried ribbon, buttons, patterned paper, bling and more and nope, this card was done in 3 steps! Amazing! Just stamp that juicy damask image from Papertrey Ink Damask Designs, add a scalloped cardstock edge to the bottom of the note card and highlight the image with a few liquid pearls. Done, finito, no more. Call it a note card, gals, 'cause that's what it is. For once I actually believe I could make a whole package of these in no time...that never happens to me :)
Thanks for looking!

So honored!
So if you've visited me before you know I am totally hooked on Papertrey Ink. I have become quite the slobbering fan of all things PTI and recently started entering their monthly Guest Star Stamper contests. There was some stiff competition for March and I was *truly honored* with an Honorable Mention mention this month in the best use of a previous stamp set category! Oh my! Am I ever excited??? Thank you Nichole Heady!! Can you say "jumping up and down" excited? hee hee! The card that was selected by Nichole was none other than the birthday card I made for my friend, Karen, that I talked about here.

And tonight, I thought I'd share another card that I had entered for the GSS contest. I just love the way it came together and the fact that I remembered to step outside the A2 box and try a different size. This card fits a business envelope size and conceals a pull out insert to hold a coffee or other gift card.
I used lots of dots and stitching to complete this card. I love the way the white embossed dots show up on the PTI kraft cardstock.
I also stitched the pocket by first pre punching the sewing holes with a paper piercer and then sewed with a coordinating embroidery floss. The *thick* PTI cardstock withstood all of the poking and paper manipulation to get this pocket sewed on. A lesser cardstock would not have been a candidate for this hand stitching project
The paper bow is a version of PTI designer Lisa Johnson's great style. I ended up trimming the middle on an angle which suited my needs perfectly. I also punched up a few of the appearances of red on my card with first red stickles and then, after they had dried, a layer of crystal effects to give it more of a 3-D look. Me likey the shiny stuff ;)

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1 (again)

Happy Monday! I warned you, didn't I? I just knew I would not be able to stop at a card or two inspired by the color challenge on Dawn McVey's blog. Hee hee...too fun! I have a couple of exciting notes about this card to share.....
First off, isn't she lovely? This is one of the juicy stamps in the set Glamour Girls from Clearly Vintage. If you haven't already, go visit the lovely Cora's site to check out her vintage image stamp sets and also check every saturday when Cora shares free vintage images for downloading. Love her stuff! I thought that stamping this elegant beauty in a hot pink ink made her live happily here on this cheerful card.
The next exciting thing about this card was the fun I had making my own Damask background using Dawn's Damask Designs set from PTI. I discovered that I could pair the images with the grid from the PTI Guidelines set to help me build a fun and playful yet glamorous background! Loving this for sure! Check out my stamping sheet in progress below.
Yes, stamping your own background takes a little time but, like I did here, I stamped a whole sheet's worth but only used a small piece for my card so I have more for other projects later. I hope you enjoyed my offering today and thanks for stopping by!

Raspberry Suite color challenge #1 meets Caardvarks
Hey friends! Today I am excited to share a TWO cards made with colors from the very first Raspberry Suite color challenge hosted by Dawn McVey! She always has amazing color combos and this weeks challenge is one of my favorite go to color palette.
My first card also uses the layout sketch from the Caardvarks Hero Arts challenge.
Here is my take on the combination of these two challenges....

My first card also uses the layout sketch from the Caardvarks Hero Arts challenge.
Here is my take on the combination of these two challenges.... I changed the sketch around a little to suit my card and Dawn's color challenge worked wonderfully on this thinking of you card. Can't you just feel love blooming?? :)
And because I couldn't stop at just one, I made another card for the color challenge. This one is inspired by all those shabby/hand cut/layered/inked handmade flowers you see all over the papercraft world. The flower stamp is from the Friends til the End set from PTI. I used the smaller of the two flower images, stamped in brown ink and then crumpled and layered the two to make a 3-D flower.
Other fun details are the Martha Stewart punched fence border on the card edge, some white on white embossed cardstock and hand drawn pen work. Super fun! Thanks to Dawn for such an inspiring challenge. Be forewarned...you may see a few more this week inspired by Brown, white, pink, yellow and orange!

Pillow Talk
Hey all! Happy weekend! Wow! Where did Saturday come from? Time for a little something new on the blog so here we go!
As I * may* have mentioned ;) , I have been having fun with the Damask Designs stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I knew I'd need to try a home dec piece with this set designed by Dawn McVey soon so I came up with this little pillow idea. Target has nothing on me! LOL Forget $19.95 "bargain" Target throw pillows, we can make our own in any color pallet we want for pennies :)
This would also make a darling custom gift as well. Before sewing the pillow, I stamped the largest damask image on the bottom two thirds of the pink cotton and the small line of images in the top third. I stamped with brown Staz On ink so it would be waterproof. I used fabrictac to attach the brown trim between the two sides of stamped images, allowing an inch to hang over the edges of the fabric so the trim would be sewn into the seam at the edges. I then matched the
right side of the stamped fabric to a chocolate brown fabric and hand stitched the two squares together leaving a small opening to turn the fabric right side out and stuff with stuffing. Finally, I closed up the stuffing seam and stitched on some sheer ribbon and a button. And voila! Custom home accessory! ...for pennies!
And just because, a matching card in case I wanted to give this away. The card was cut using a coluzzle, leaving the one inch fold at the top un-cut. The brown scallops are simply circle punches that have been arranged around the edge of the white circle stamped with the large Damask design. A little brownstone glitter from Martha Stewart to bling it up and one of the beautiful scripted sentiment from the Damask set to finish it off.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a beautiful weekend :)

A happy birthday wish
This happy birthday card was made especially for Karen! Fellow retreater, fellow PTI lover and fellow blogger here at Time Crafted. I hope you go visit her blog...she's been up to some yummy goodness with cupcake stamps and crystal effects! My friend Karen is such a sweetie, I thought that these sweet treat ice cream cones would be just the thing to help celebrate her February birthday!
It was super fun to combine some excellent stamps sets, ribbon and cardstock from Papertrey Ink in colors that remind me of rainbow sherbet. I always loved getting that when I was a kid. And of course, a little glitter just so Karen would know it was from me ;)
And a close up shot of the ribbon tied with a button and some twistel trick. This is a new technique to me and I just love the way it looks.

Caardvarks Critter Challenge and some funny St Pat's stuff
And because I think they are funny....a quick shot of the lunch box notes that went in my girls' and hubsy's lunchboxes today. More of those cute drink stickers!
If you knew us and how far from beefcake and o'hottie we are, you'd laugh too! hee hee Hope you saw a rainbow or two today :)
Top 'o the mornin' to ye
Happy St Patty's day! Just a quickie before I head out on a long day of doing for the fam...
This little card is for a special friend 'o the green who happens to delight in using a certain green leprechan stamp from SU! I wanted to surprise her with some happy mail today. Pretty much all SU! on here...texture plates, ink, stamp at the bottom and the new lace border punch.
My find o' the day was the sticker in the center...from a sheet of hallmark drink marker stickers that I found thrifting one day...there are some other gems on that sheet I will post later that I used for the kids and me hubs. But until then, this one's for YOU Queen O' the Green! :)
Hope you all find lots of rainbows and pots of gold :)

A card for Tara
I got a little of piece of happy mail from tarajeane on the PTI message board about a week ago. It had these great tags from Every Jot and Tittle Etsy store inside. Lovely Tara was willing to share the tags if we would all make something with them to share and I finally had a chance to put this little card together with one of those tags last night. So this is for you, Tara! Tara happens to have some great cards to check out at her blog here. I started with stamping some of the smaller damask images from Dawn's Damask Designs on the inner area of the tag. I masked the edges with a couple sticky notes so the images would stay inside the black border. I then stamped the sentiment from the same set over the yellow damask.
I decided to make this card gate fold so the adorable tag could hang over the opening edge a little...sort of acts as a tab to open the card. The rest is paper and scallop punching but one tip on the button. It had a fairly tall shank which I did not want to clip off because I threaded my ribbon through it. To balance the button on the right side, I used half of a dimensional dot underneath to prop it up.
One final step was to do a little something to the inside. I mounted a piece of corner rounded cream cardstock stamped with the large damask image inside. I have been loving all of the cards out there with the surprise inside...this was my attempt. The yellow is light enough to write a message over the top with a black or grey pen.

CPS106 and vintage school images
Happy Saturday! CPS106 challenge meets vintage school image...they play so nicely together don't they?
This amazing vintage school image comes from Cora at Clearly Vintage. See the post here. Every Saturday Cora generously posts scans of authentic vintage photos and such to share with everyone. She recently held a blog candy drawing and asked for what kind of images we'd like to see...I said vintage school images....and I was a LUCKY winner of her blog candy stamp set Glamour Girls!! and these school images were posted at my request! How double sweet is she?!? I hope everyone takes a moment to check out her blog and Etsy shop. I can't wait to make something glamorous when her girls arrive :) Thank you Cora!
As for the CPS sketch....this is what inspired my card layout. There are some gorgeous be-ribboned and flowered examples over there but I took a less whimsical approach to this sketch...which is odd for me but I am liking the way my card turned out. I love how you can start with a sketch and turn it into something else! I guess that's the point huh?

I whipped up this cutie for my friend, Tamara, to thank her for the effort she puts into organizing 4 day retreats three times a year. I tell you, the scrappin' and crafting and laughing to be done on retreat is like no other...way cheaper than therapy and so much more fun ;). You can find more retreat info here : Retreats
