Just Us Girls #130

Woohoo!  It's wild card week!  My pal, Elise, is challenging us to give our designs some ZIP this week...yep, you guessed it, use a zipper to embellish your creation!  Check out the details for Just Us Girls challenge #130 and please do use the graphic below in your post.

(*aww shucks* some of that artwork above is mine!thanks E!) and you can find link ups from previous posts  HERE and HERE .  For Elise's challenge, I went all girly with a pink and brown palette and a super frilly pink zipper flower embellishment.

The gorgeous frame, die and mannequin stamps are Wplus9 and the pretty sentiment and swirl are from Waltzingmouse.  I love the way these vintage inspired designs married so easily on this card.  The floral frame stamp was echoed in the swirls on the My Mind's Eye designer paper!  Love that!  The mannequin was stamped on the same designer paper, fussy cut and popped on foam tape for dimension.  A corsage pin makes a pretty pearl "head" and Want2Scrap baby bling give this girl a sparkly necklace to wear! Another seamstress pin holds the sentiment tag by being inserted into one of the pieces of foam behind the mannequin piece.

But wait!  We are talking zippers here!  How about a close up?  I inserted a cluster of floral pick stamens into the center of my zipper flower and added pearl trims and glittered floral silk leaves to the flower.  The whole piece rests on a short length of rose ribbon trim from Want2Scrap (love that stuff!)

One more way to use zippers is to layer them up as you would a punched edge or ribbon trim....I really like the contrast of silver teeth on zipper twill.  Apply them with a strong fabric glue like Fabri-Tac.

Be sure and check out the amazing inspiration from the JUGs girls

Color Cue #11...Happy Birthday

Hi there!  Back with another Kelleigh Ratzlaff cupcake card template...you're gonna see these alot!  I love them!  This project was made for the Want2Scrap CHA booth using brand new Nestabling! and I used the ColorCue #11 challenge colors from Dawn at Wplus9 stamps.  I chose kraft brown as my other neutral.

 I chose designer papers (bitty dots and dotty biscotti) from Papertrey Ink.  Also, I used the Wplus9 stamp set called Funky Flowers for the sentiment flag.  The rose diecut, frame background and pennant pieces (cut from journaling tags) are The Girls' Paperie die cuts- paper cuts.  The adhesive pearls on the rose center and the banner are Want2Scrap.

Check out the Beaded Square Nestabling in pearl!  All of those pearls are on single Nestabling square...soooo easy to apply to your project.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Color Cue {7}, City Crafter Challenge and Cards Challenge....{wish upon a star}

Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight.....
Hello friends!  Back with another three-fer (didn't I just say on the last post I don't try and combine challenges? Hmmmm I guess I DO combine challenges from time to time).  This week both the Cards blog and the City Crafter Challenge had a star challenge going.   Dawn at Wplus9 has a fab Color Cue going  and I needed a baby card....so perfect storm again!

Now I love the idea of a shaped card, but many times, the shape makes it difficult for a piece to actually function as a card!  Take stars for instance.  They have 2 teeny tiny points to balance on and, if you want overhanging blingy swirls from Want 2 Scrap...well what is a crafter to do?  Hambly Clearly Heavy is your answer.  I began by cutting and folding a standard 4.25" x 5.5" card out of clearly heavy.  I then applied my star and my bling swirls.  After I knew I had the layout I wanted, I trimmed away at the clearly heavy cutting a close silhouette to the swirls and star sides, leaving the straight edge on the bottom of the card.

And then, it's all in the details...I used a stamp from Funky Flowers from Wplus9 to create a stamped pattern on my yellow cadstock star base.  I love the individual pieces of this set for creating custom patterns.  A simple safety pin adorned with seed beads in the challenge colors adds to the baby theme and scrunched seam binding gives the card an "all wrapped up" feeling.  Red thread border stitching was fun to do with my sewing machine.  I love how it pops against the yellow cardstock!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Don't forget, if you like Bloomers from Webster's Pages, check out this post to enter to win some!  :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Wplus9, Papertrey Ink

Ink: Stampin Up! and Papertrey Ink

Color Cue {6}

Hey there!  I am so excited to join in on the Color Cue challenge with the talented ladies over at Wplus9 design!  Check out the yummy colors!

I made a shabby flower using the cut file from Kelleigh Ratzlaff I talked about in THIS post.  Dawn's stamps from the Funky Flowers set had all the perfect pieces to create an elegant flower stem.  Having the stamps in individual pieces makes it easy to build a stem of any length to suit your project!  LOVE!  I added some tiny pearl bling from Want 2 Scrap....love those adhesive pearls!

Thanks for popping by.  I'll be back later tonight with the latest in Just Us Girls sketch challenges!

Just Us Girls #40, JustRite Stampers and Wplus9....Funky and Fresh Baked

Hi there!  Happy saturday!  Time for some sketch challenge fun with Just Us Girls and color challenge fun with the Color Que #5  from Wplus 9.  Just Us Girls has some exciting news....this week we are sponsored by JustRite Stampers!  They generously sent stamps to the DT and have provided enough product for TWO prize giveaways for Just Us Girls challenge participants!  Check out Just Us Girls for details...one prize will be exclusively for those participants who use JustRite stamps on their challenge project.  Also, be sure and check out the JustRite blog for fabulous projects using JustRite stamps!

And as if the sponsor wasn't enough, we also have the honor of having Debbie Marcinkiewicz as our guest designer for the month of July!  I just adore Debbie's creations!  She will often put a shabby and vintage spin on her work and it just makes my vintage lovin heart go pitty pat!  Debbie also runs a wonderful challenge blog called the Shabby Tea Room.  Check it out for some serious eye candy!
Hard not to be inspired by the retro cool font of the "Fresh Baked" JustRite stamp.  This stamp is from the Homemade Treats Borders and Centers stamp set.  I also stamped with the image holding grooves of the 2 3/8 circle  stamping base in green and orange to create the circle with horizontal lines with double ringed border.  Cool!  I love all the options for customization of JustRite Stamps!

Now let's also talk a little Wplus9!   I used the super fun Funky Flowers set to create my own stamped background using orange, turquoise and dark brown inks.  Super fun and the images help reinforce the retro theme I was shooting for.  I also used bling colored with alcohol ink from Want 2 Scrap and a new cutting file for use with SCAL and cricut from Mari Koegelenberg called the Doily shapes set #1!  Be still my heart.  Mari!  You've made my day with these files...and I'm assuming since this is "set #1" that there may be a #2 on the way??  I'll be stalking you watching for it! ;)

I hope you will stop off and visit all of the Just Us Girls DT for all of the juicy details on their JustRite/sketch challenge projects this week.  You will find their names in my side bar!  Thanks so much for stopping by this week!  Now let's get stamping...there are JustRite stamps on the line!

Just Us Girls #23...sketch challenge and Wplus9! {happy birthday}

Hellooooooo my bloggy friends!  I am SO excited to be hosting the sketch challenge over at the Just Us Girls blog this week!  We JUGs girls love a good challenge and lots of fun and this week is no exception with a brand new talented guest designer, Stephanie Kraft,  and a fabulous sponsor, Dawn Woleslagle of Wplus9 stamp designs!
This is the JUGs sketch and I decided to plug in the colors of a challenge going on at Dawn's blog called Color Cue:

Wheeeee!  Is it ok to be completely delighted with your own stuff?  I vote yes!  ;)  This card is inspired by Dawn all over the place!  Starting with the stamp set, Funky Flowers, working with the color cue colors, right on down to the CASE vibe I was going for.  Dawn brilliantly works that clean and streamlined look all the time and I am hoping this fits the bill.
Oh my satin ribbon JOY!  This wide turquoise satin ribbon was a prime candidate for ruffling.  It is absolutely luscious in real life and I hoped that it would draw the eye to the funky flowers image stamped in the same electric turquoise.  Pops of red with bling flower centers, scallops and buttons make me smile :)

Be sure and check out the JUGs girls and our special guests for all the amazing details on their blogs.
Be sure and stop by the Just Us girls blog and link us up to your project.  Dawn has offered up blog candy of TWO stamp sets of winners choice to a participant of the JUGs sketch challenge!  Don't miss out on this. Thanks so much for coming by and have a great weekend!
