Pretty little Kelleigh flower!

Ooooowheeeeee!  Did you hear about Kelleigh Ratzlaff's latest endeavor?  The girl has got cut files!  Yahoo!  I am loving the SVG files for use with my Cricut and the SCAL software.  LOL!  If what I just said is greek to you, no worries, her files continue to come with PDF's to print and handcut but I can tell you, I am stoked to let my cricut do the work now!
Know what is THE BEST thing about this flower?  The cut file is FREE for the taking and sure to wet your whistle for more more MORE Kelleigh cut files!  I know beige is not a traditional flower color but I just loved the aged and vintage look to this textured cardstock from DCWV.  Edges are inked with timber brown staz on and a bit o bling from Want 2 Scrap adorns the center.  Stay tuned for a project with this fabby shabby but in the meantime, run don't walk to Kelleigh's blog for her latest releases.

Old School meets Pencil Box

OK, ready for something sweet, SIMPLE and fun? How about this darling pencil pouch (little sister to the pencil case featured here)? This amazing template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff is all dolled up with digital elements from the Old School digital kit from Kelley Mickus. You can find both on sale tomorrow, thursday, at the Digichick Boutique!


The back side of my pencil pouch has a sweet fold down tab to enclose the pencils. I just used the ribbon tie for the circle tag as a slide-able closure. This project was extremely FAST! Wouldn't this be a great welcome to school treat for students? Or how about a gift during spring testing to start the kids off right? A sharp number two pencil and a stick of gum (to keep em focused so say some studies) would fit perfectly in here.

Here are the cover sheets for the template package (two for one!) and the digital kit from Kelleigh and Kelley! Drool over them and then head on over to the Digichick Boutique tomorrow to snatch them up. Instant gratification I tell ya! While you are there, look around. Caardvarks Hero Arts Winter Wonderland challenge

What!?! Winter wonderland??? I don't know about you, but where I live, it's anything but chilly! So while I hide from the sun in my house, how about some winter projects to cool us down? This cool box template from Kelleigh Ratzlaff will be released this thursday at the Digichick Boutique. It is one of TWO templates that will be in the pencil case download. I decided to dress this pencil case up in winter clothes for the Caardvarks challenge.

Also from the Digichick Boutique, I used the Cafe Latte digi kit for the background designer papers. This kit is loaded with great papers and elements. Including a cutie pie of a coffee cup that would be a great addition to this packaging if I wanted to box up a custom hot cocoa mix to hang on the neighbor's door...just extend the ribbon loop at the top to turn it into a door hanger. With the smaller ribbon loop, this box would hang happily on a christmas tree branch.

More details....the die cut snowflakes are from the Christmas cheer cricut cartridge and the swirl is handcut from vintage book print. Inking, stitching and pinking sheers give a nice homey feel and the silver mini garland, fruit punch stickles and iridescent snow give this project a wintery shimmer! Leftover red patterned paper make the perfect paper curls.

Tuesday already?? Wow! Where did that come from? Sometimes the days just fly by and in the wise words of Ferris Bueller, Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. So here to share a card today that actually is more of a scrapbook page in miniature, capturing one of my most treasured experiences captured on film as of late...

These people right here are so special to me! You've got my two home-girls up front who never stopped laughing and squealing during the WHOLE 45 minute ride session. The master of all things motorized, fun, and thrill, my one and only bigger than me "little brother" at the wheel and riding shotgun on the most uncomfortable metal bar rack (ouch!) is my sweet SIL , Traci! Yep, she's as cool and fun in real life as she seems on her blog :) My girls just love spending time with their "Zio and Zia" and this little card was to thank them for some crazy cool fun the other night.

Almost all of the elements on this card are from Mari Koegelenberg's August Grab Bag at the digichick boutique. The cool background prints, the bingo card, the vintage ticket, the graph paper circle with the metal star.....LOVE it all! Very cool, too, that the bingo card had the number 4 at the top available for me to highlight with a simple punched circle ring with bling!

Good morning! So continuing on with the song bender I've been on for post titles :) For those of you who have had songs stuck in your head because of me...well, sorry about that, unless they been fun for you like they have been for me and then I say, yay us for singing a happy song! Today's song is one of my all-time favorites and I knew when I saw the words as part of Dawn Inskip's August grab bag digi kit, I had to not only have it but make something right away! This bag will be released at the Digichick Boutique Saturday as part of the August Grab Bag release!

The wonderful world paper and the ruler paper I used on the flower are from Dawn's kit and the rest are pieces of goodness from my stash. The paper strip flower was inspired by the sweet, talented and fabulous Kelley Eubanks from her post {here}. I ended up printing my digi elements on regular printer weight paper (read LIGHT weight) and it made folding up the flower a cinch!

And a parting shot at the cutest little ticket in the MM Love Notes line! I am a "hugger" (kind of like a "close talker" but hopefully less annoying! ha!) so, to me, hugs go hand in hand with a "wonderful world". {Owl} House is a very very very fine house...

Hooty hoooot! I'm back with our friend MISS owl. (Remember this card HERE)? Today she's spending a little time at home in her sweet owl house. A fine one indeed! OK, so you got me, it's not a house really but it is something fabulous....it's a new template from Kelleigh Ratzlaff!



This template, called the Top Heavy Box, along with two other templates will be released August 1st at the Digichick Boutique as Kelleigh's August Grab bag! Don't miss her bag along with the other amazing digichick designer bags. Trust me, it's the most cost effective "designer bag" you'll ever purchase ;) LOL!

Meanwhile, back at the owl house....here is a side shot of the box so you can see how the roof extends the design of the box.

Eek! My print lines are showing! I KNOW! I am breaking my own template printing rules ;) (Boy am I easily distracted tonight as I type this or what? And it's not even late) OK, seriously now.... Normally the front tab of the box top would tuck all the way down into the box OR be used as a decorative front tab with a velcro, magnet or the like to snap the box shut. Instead, I folded the bottom half of the front tab back up to provide a lip for the roof to adhere to. I left the part of the roof that has the punched lattice edge UN-glued from the lip of the box tab so it would allow the box top edge to wedge up into and behind the lattice. This makes your little box secure. The box is tall enough to stash a gift card (wouldn't a home improvement store gc for a new home owner be fun?) or you can fill it with other goodies.

Here's a parting shot from Miss Owl perched on her *giggle* real branch. Oh! And what stylish owl DOESN'T have a lace crochet door mat outside her front door? *giggle giggle* . (Obviously I had WAY too much fun with this project!)

Digital Two for Tuesday Guest Designer! .... Ain't Life Grand?

Happy tuesday friends! Did you know that every tuesday is Digital Two for Tuesday at Cora's blog? Well if you didn't you do now :) I have been a long-time follower of Cora's Clearly Vintage blog where she posts free digital vintage images every saturday and she emailed me and asked me if I would be a guest designer (*blush*) for her new blog where she posts digital black and white images every tuesday! Ummm...how could I say no to this honor? Of course, I was in!

So today she has posted two bathing beauties for the taking and I chose this lovely lady. I love her glamour girl pose and the look on her face is priceless. Perhaps it's because her swimming outfit would weigh about 100 pounds once she gets it wet! LOL! I think there is a diva hiding under all of the stockings and layers of dress! I paired her with the newsprint from Kelley Mickus' digi kit (love that print!) and if you click on the photo above to enlarge it, you will see the wanted advertisement for a "steady woman"...love that!

I also added strips of lace and trimmings with my sewing machine. I like to use fabric tac liquid adhesive to tack them down first and then add stitching with the machine.

I also broke out the long ignored chalks in my stash to give her face a rosy glow and her dress a hint of blue. Her red flower sash accent helps to make her the most smashing dame at the beach! Look out ladies ;)

Digital flowers...love em!

Happy friday everyone! Friday means there are lots of new goodies over at the Digichick Boutique including my personal favorite this week, Click, Click, Click by Kelley Mickus!
Inside this kit you'll find elements and papers that are both graphic and vintage at the same time. A perfect combo in my little opinion :) I wanted to share one of the cards I made for the release newsletter.

Both background papers and the flower circles are from the kit and were printed at home using Microsoft Word. I hand cut some stems from coordinating cardstock scraps as well as a punched border for the card edge. The card was also sprayed with glimmer mist in Suede with circle masks over the flower areas and then Shimmer Spritz in Sea Foam after the masks were removed. It is hard to capture the shimmer in the photos but I have a close up further down that will help.

Oh cuteness! I just love him...or HER...I'm thinking her now since boys don't usually have bows in their hair, not even blue ones! How about all the other elements here? Except for the chocolate cardstock and the stitching, all of the papers and elements are digital! Including those super cool screws on the label! Awesome!

Get {organized} with a hybrid homework clipboard

Hey friends! Happy friday! I love a friday...especially on a school week! Yep! My girls went back to school this week....now we....er... THEY are in Kindergarten and 3rd grade. Eeek! That went by fast. Back to school means back to homework and schedules galore and in order to not lose our minds, we need a place to keep it all. Enter the homework clipboards, one for each girl. I have written up a tutorial over at the Hybrid Chick website in case you would like to make something like this for yourself or for your kids. I hope you'll check it out. Since I have two girls, I went all crazy with an adorable digi kit from Pri Rocha called Three Birds PLUS lots of girly bling, ribbon, and flowers. I wanted to steer the moms of boys to the totally awesome superhero kit by Amy Sumrall called Comical . It's got all the KA-BLAM! a boy could need to get his school thing on!

Oh and just so you could get a visual on my end of school fridge...here is the evidence! Mamma Mia, it needed a makeover BAD! It looked how I feel sometimes when I get overloaded with "stuff"....mismatched, things trailing and falling off, a walking catch all of just in case we need it things, you know how it is LOL! Now that's not always a bad thing...it's just a little overwhelming at times and the fix for my fridge was simple. Picture it now with nothing but the pink memo sheet made by my oldest in first grade for my running list of groceries. *sigh* my fridge can breathe again and so can I. tee hee :)

Me {creative} soul on fire -- Feeling hot hot hot!

Ohhh, doesn't that song make you feel like you are on tropical vacation? While I don't have any
tropical vacation on the horizon, I can have a STAYcation with this ADORABLE digital kit, Hot, Hot, Hot, from the DigiChick Boutique and Sassy Purse #3 from Kelleigh Ratzlaff!

All of the papers in this fun project come from from the digital kit, including the great hibiscus flower for the purse closure. Just print and go!

I wanted this tote to be finished inside and out so I printed my cardstock on both sides with the flowered DP and the checked DP. Kelleigh has posted a great tutorial for purse assembly on her website {here} if you would like to see how simply these templates work.

Inking on the edges of the tote and the flower give this project some extra "suntan" and I was delighted to pullout some vintage fiber from Memory Makers. Remember when we had to have it in every color combo? The hibiscus closure works with a bit of Velcro underneath.

I thought the back side of this purse was worth showing too! The vertical strip is attached to the hibiscus on the front but could be a purse embellishment on its own I think. This project is large enough to hold a disposable camera, a chapstick, a sunscreen stick and maybe some nail polish so the receiver is all set for summer poolside. Perfect for those summer birthdays or to give a sweet bon voyage gift to the good friend heading out on the tropical vacation we wish we were on too! :)

My Time to Create Template challenge

Hi all! Happy saturday! It's time for a challenge from Lauren Meader and the My Time to Create Challenge team. Here in the US, tomorrow is Father's Day. I am highlighting a project today that I made for my dad....one super special guy...a hero type you know?? The challenge from Lauren this week is to use one of her Timeless Templates, that you can pick up over at Papertrey Ink, and also to create your own background paper. For my project, I chose the Captured Card Case template. To make my background paper I used a digital kit from Elise Hansen at the Digi Chick What a Catch and stamps from Papertrey Ink. The juicy "I'm so glad that you're my dad" looks like a stamp but is actually a digital element I placed on the background paper as a custom stamp specifically fitting the dimensions of this project. I stamped the lines of stars to complete my simple background with ARound and ABout Sentiments from PTI. The blue star was stamped on white cardstock and paper punched with a fiskars star punch and added to the grouping. Once the template was folded up, I inked the edges with dark chocolate ink frm PTI. A little inking goes a long way don't you think?
A couple strips of cardstock to the edges and that's about all this little box for Dad needs. And what will I fill it with? Typically this box holds a set of A2 size notecards and envelopes but my dad is not much of a notecard writer ;) This year I will fill it with a letter from me, just to let him know how special his is to me and that I'm so glad that he's my dad!
