Just Us Girls 101 "Text me!"....and blog candy winner

And now for the challenge...this week, design a project that is text rich.   Your multiple text stamps for a background or as a focal point like I did.

 

All my sentiments are from a set by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  LOVE this western set and it was perfect for a CAS card for my guy's birthday last month.  Stamps are a great choice for this technique or if your are digitally inclined, feel free to produce a digi masterpiece.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Just Us Girls #32 technique challenge ...{A perfect 10}

 

Hey bloggy friends!  It's already saturday again!  Time for a new challenge with the Just Us Girls crew.  This week the lovely and talented Mona has challenged us to make a pocket card.  Check out the link to a wonderful SplitCoast Stampers tutorial on Pocket Cards.

Mona has a delish vintage card sample in the swatch above and I went the clean and graphic way of the Father's Day card for my sweet hubbie.  He's a perfect 10 daddy to our girls!

The card insert is a perfect spot for a gift card and/or a handwritten message, photograph etc.

For my {deer}

Happy tuesday friends! Thanks to the amazing Cathe Holden who shared this cool black and white scan of deer from an 1887 almanac, I had the perfect centerpiece for my outdoorsy husband's upcoming birthday card. Cathe is an amazing graphic designer and there is always a visual treat for the eye whenever you visit her blog. Be happy, check her out :)

I printed the silhouette image in black on white cardstock. Then, to smear proof my sheet, I gave the image a light coating of matte finish clear spray paint. Then I went to work with some Stampin Up dye inks and an inking sponge. I think this image would make a stunning header for stationery too...hmmm...maybe I'll have to revisit that idea. Anyway, I mounted the inked piece onto black cardstock and then some smoky shadow cardstock from Papertrey. Stitching with my sewing machine finished off the blank space.

Check out the smoky shadow....doesn't it remind you of wool socks on a brisk fall day? Not too much longer and it will be time to pull those socks out of the drawer.

A man card..

*gasp*! A card that is for once, NOT pink OR sparkley! hee hee... Whipped up a card for a family friend and went to town with some browns and kept it simple.


This card uses PTI cardstock, SU! glossy cardstock and ink from SU! and staz on. My SU! demo showed us how to sprinkle a few dots of die ink on glossy cardstock and brayer it on until the edges just begin to mix. THat created the sunrise looking background behind the ducks. ONce dry, I stamped the ducks and reed images with black staz on ink. The main duck image was colored with brush pens by Zig to pump up the details and the edges of the card and the glossy cardstock were all sponge inked with brown ink as well. The envelope is a standard business sized security envelope dressed up reed and goose stamps. The images are all SU! Thanks for looking :)
